I felt it was a positive tale, you’ve made some good choices during dark times. Things may be a bit tight, but as long as you keep up with your studies you will be able to hit the ground running.

I prefered your tape version. I too own a BR-20, an also a Tascam 42B & a Crown CX822. All 2-tracks. Digital is good for editing & general bastardizing of the original sound, but to me the tape medium is still the best. It’s an era that should have never ended! Try the new ATR Magnetics tape out now. It has a +10 DB headroom & very low distortion & noise floor…(not that pinning the meters is such a good idea anyway). I have 19 remaining unopened reel of the classic Scotch 996 2500ft. (gold anodized NAB reels-six screw hubs in their Tapecare boxes… NOS). If you or anyone is interested? I’m looking at $60.00 each, no split up. Larry

Fascinating reading there. I used to live at Wytaliba from 1984 – 87 & played drums in a few bands there.
The bloke jumping on the drums playing badly is pretty much what happened to us a few times. And the strange vibes I can relate to as well, it could be the best audience you ever played to because of the remoteness or the worst due to some macho men going off.
